How to Get a Missouri Real Estate Broker License
When it comes to getting your broker’s license in Missouri, you must be at least 18 years of age, show evidence of being fingerprinted through the approved statewide vendor, and meet ONE of the following requirements:
Option 1
- Have a current and active Missouri salesperson license for at least 24 of the last 30 months immediately preceding the application for license.
- Earn a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion from a 48-hour pre-exam broker course. This must be from an accredited Missouri real estate school and completed the day of or before the exam date.
- Pass both portions of the Missouri broker exam.
- Submit your application for license within six months of completing the 48-hour pre-exam broker course.
Option 2
- Be a licensed attorney, as well as hold an active salesperson license and pass BOTH portions of the Missouri broker examination,
- OR if unlicensed, you must pass BOTH portions of the Missouri salesperson examination and BOTH portions of the Missouri broker examination. The education requirements and license experience are waived.
- Make sure you submit your application within six months of passing the Missouri broker exam.
- If you don’t pass both portions of the exam in one sitting, then you must submit your application for license within six months of the first passing broker exam score.
- Provide a current copy of your Bar card with the application for license.
Option 3
- Hold a current and active salesperson license in another jurisdiction, have 24 of the last 30 months active salesperson experience.
- Earn a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion from a 48-hour pre-exam broker course from an accredited Missouri real estate school on or the date of the exam, and pass BOTH portions of the Missouri broker examination.
- Make sure you submit the license application within six months of the completion date of the 48-hour pre-exam broker course.
- The current license (history) certification issued within three months from the real estate commission of the state/jurisdiction from which currently licensed must be provided with the application for licensure. Do not submit a copy of your license.
Option 4
- Hold a current and active broker license in another jurisdiction.
- Have 24 of the last 30 months active license experience as a real estate salesperson or broker.
- Pass the state portion of the Missouri broker exam.
- Submit your application within six months of passing the state portion of the broker exam.
- A current license (history) certification issued within three months from the real estate commission of the state/jurisdiction from which currently licensed must be provided with the application for licensure. Do not submit a copy of your license.
