How to Get a Montana Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) License
Montana Mortgage License Requirements
- Complete a civil and Criminal Background Check (CBC)
- Authorize a credit report through the NMLS
- Fulfill all state and federal education requirements as designated by your state agency
- Take and pass a National Test
- Obtain sponsorship from an approved mortgage broker or lender; MLOs may not be employed by or perform mortgage origination activities for more than one Montana entity licensee simultaneously
- Designated managers must have 3 years of experience
- Provide a surety bond in the appropriate amount based on annual loan production (bond may be carried by the employer of the mortgage loan originator)
- Pay the required licensing fee (includes the NMLS fee)
