How to Get Your Ohio Real Estate Sales Agent License
Ohio Real Estate License Requirements
- Be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a high school degree or equivalent (GED)
- Be honest, truthful, and of good reputation
- Not have been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude
- Not have violated any civil rights laws regarding real estate within the last two years
Steps to Get a Ohio Real Estate License
- Complete the 120-hour pre-license coursework, consisting of the following classes:
- 40 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices
- 40 hours Ohio Real Estate Law, including instruction in Civil Rights, Housing Discrimination and Desegregation Problems
- 20 hours of Real Estate Appraisal
- 20 hours of Real Estate Finance
- Pass the final pre-license exam provided by your pre-license education company.
- Complete the Salesperson License Examination Application and obtain sponsorship from an active Ohio broker.
- Submit your application along with the $81 fee to the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing.
- Complete fingerprinting and background check through a Webcheck user.
- Pass the Ohio Real Estate Salesperson Exam.
- Wait for the Ohio Division of Real Estate to review your application and issue your license.
