Qualifications for the South Carolina Insurance License
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED)
- Possess a Social Security number
- Must not have committed any disqualifying criminal offenses
South Carolina Insurance License Requirements
- Prelicensing education is not required but is highly recommended.
- Only approved identification is allowed at the exam site.
- A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the exam.

- A SLED background investigation is required for all resident license applications.
