Texas Insurance License Renewal Requirements
- Complete 24 hours of CE biennially, including 2 hours of ethics (3 hours effective 09/01/2021)
- Annuity Best Interest Training: One-time 4-credit course or additional 1-credit course
- Long-Term Care Training: Initial 8-hour certification course and 4-hour CE biennially
- Flood Insurance: Minimum 3-hour FEMA and NFIP training
- Medicare Training: 8-hour initial certification course and 4-hour CE biennially
Steps to Renew a Texas Insurance License
- Complete required CE hours, including mandatory topics and additional training courses
- Pass closed book online certification exam with a score of 70% or higher (unlimited retakes)
- Complete CE requirements by the last day of licensee’s birth month every two years
- Report course completion within 30 days (include Texas license number)
- Pay required state reporting fees ($0.88 per credit hour)
