Steps to Get a West Virginia Insurance License

  1. Complete an Insurance Prelicensing Course: Enroll in Cameron Academy’s West Virginia Property and Casualty Insurance Agent Pre-License Course to maximize your chances of passing the state licensing exam.
  2. Pass Your West Virginia Licensing Exam: After completing the prelicensing course, pass the state licensing exam, ensuring you have your Certificate of Prelicensing Course Completion for admittance to the test center.
  3. Get Fingerprinted: Schedule fingerprinting through IdentoGo and have them sent to the West Virginia Insurance Commission. Keep the receipt with the 12-digit TCN number.
  4. Apply for a West Virginia Insurance License: Apply electronically through the NIPR website (www.nipr.com) or by using the paper application. Fax a copy of the fingerprint receipt from the IdentoGo center to the Licensing Division at 304-558-4966.
  5. Obtain Your National Producer Number (NPN): You will be assigned an NPN, a unique identifier used to track individuals and business entities on a national basis.
